Dominique AnnaMarie (she/her/hers) paints through a lens that highlights the divinity of Black women. She pays homage to the legacy of powerful figures she grew up with by telling their stories of spirituality and sensuality unapologetically, with the use of acrylic and oil-based mediums. While she began her artistry during her studies at Howard University, she has since developed into a multi-talented contemporary artist practicing in New York. Dominique credits her spiritual grounding as the framework of her practice and paints from the guidance of her heart in lieu of societal expectations. It’s evident in her work that Dominique’s gifts bring visibility to the stories of Black women. The stories that are raw, vulnerable, and beautiful; the stories where Black women are and remain the main character.
